MCLEANSBORO, IL — The McLeansboro City Council Tuesday night passed a resolution to close and/or reroute certain state highways and/or city streets for the City Christmas Parade set for Dec. 4 at 5:30 p.m.

The council also passed another resolution to replace the McLeansboro Police Department’s 2013 Dodge Ram. The council voted to approve the purchase of a 2021 Chevy Silverado from Teffertiller Motors for $32,499.

The city will proceed with the planning of a county-wide tire recycling event and will try to schedule it to coincide with the spring city-wide pickup set for the week of Oct. 26 through the 29.

The council also swore in Walter Rexing as assistant fire chief at Tuesday’s meeting.
