CENTRALIA, IL — The Alzheimer’s Association will host a virtual grand opening of their Promise Garden Ceremony at Carillon Park in Centralia this weekend. The online experience will begin at 10am and run until noon.

Tina Henson is with the Association’s Greater Missouri Chapter that encompasses south central, Illinois (Washington, Jefferson, Marion, Clay, and Clinton counties). She says each color of flower in the promise garden represents a different relationship to those affected by Alzheimer’s.

The Walk to End Alzheimer’s will unfortunately have to be done on a ‘good faith’ basis this year. Henson says those that choose to walk on their own can still register and most certainly should take pictures or videos to share.

Centralia Mayor Herb Williams recently signed and announced a proclamation making September 19th Walk to End Alzheimer’s Awareness Day.
