HARRISBURG — Thrive of Harrisburg is donating $10,000 to the city of Harrisburg for flashing stop signs powered by solar panels to be installed at the stop signs at the intersection of Veterans Drive and Small Street.

The announcement of the donation was made at Thursday’s city council meeting.

Harrisburg mayor John McPeek says the donation shows that Thrive wants to be a valuable partner in the community.

Also Thursday, the council approved a motion to advertise for bids the tuck pointing project for the west wall of city hall. McPeek says that is just one project of a lot of work that needs to be done.

No decision was made on the new VOIP phone system for the water and sewer department or the future of the water and sewer office building. The appointment of a new Street, Alley, and Public Property Department head was also tabled at Thursday’s meeting.
