CENTRALIA, IL — Centralia police are investigating a Thursday night shooting that sent two people to the hospital with gunshot wounds – one, a pregnant woman suffered critical injuries.

Centralia Police Chief Greg Dodson says around 8:34pm officers responded to a report of a shooting between a group of pedestrians and an occupied vehicle at the intersection of Kerr and Pine streets.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 27-year-old male subject from Swansea that had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. Shortly after the report of the incident to police a 28-year-old female from Centralia, showed up to St Mary’s Hospital Emergency Room with multiple gunshot wounds.

The female subject was who was pregnant at the time was in critical condition. The baby was delivered at the ER and is in stable condition but was transported to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment and observation. The woman was airlifted to a St Louis Hospital for treatment of her injuries.

The male subject from Swansea was also transported to a separate St. Louis Hospital where he received treatment for his single gunshot wound and was released.

The Centralia Police are continuing to investigate this incident and ask anyone who has any information regarding the shooting to please call the police department.
