CENTRALIA — The Centralia Correctional Center has confirmed three staff members have tested positive for the coronavirus disease, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.

On Tuesday the Clinton County Health Department reported 10 new positive cases, bringing the county total to 362 residents testing positive for COVID-19, with 286 cases released from isolation, while anther 58 remain in home quarantine, one is hospitalized and 17 have died.

Big Muddy River Correctional Center is reporting  two staff have tested positive, with one released from isolation, and one inmate has tested positive but has since been released from quarantine.

Menard Correctional Center reports 19 staff members have tested positive for the virus, with six of those released from quarantine.

Jefferson County health officials on Wednesday morning reported eight new lab-confirmed tests since Tuesday, bringing their total number of cases to 230.

The eight new cases include a girl in her teens, a female in her 20s, a male in his 40s, a female in her 50s, two males in their 50s, a female in her 60s, and a male in his 60s.

Of the 230 confirmed cases, 42 are currently in isolation, 172 have been released from isolation, and 17 have died.

Health officials say the cases can be attributed both to community spread and close contact with a positive case.

They ask residents to stay home and away from others if they are having symptoms, and if you do get tested, you should remain at home in isolation while you wait on your test results.

If you test positive or are a close contact of a positive, you will be contacted by the Health Department and placed on isolation or quarantine.

This is to help prevent the spread, so it is important to answer your phone and adhere to the isolation and quarantine by staying home and away from others.

Marion County reported two new positive cases Tuesday — one in a woman in her 40s and one in a woman in her 60s.

Washington County reported one new case on Tuesday, while Fayette County had no new confirmed cases to report on Tuesday.

The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Tuesday announced 1,471 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 19 additional confirmed deaths.

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 184,712 cases, including 7,545 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois.

The preliminary seven-day statewide positivity for cases from July 28–August 3 is 3.9 percent.
