SOUTHERN ILLINOIS — There have been plenty of announcements by local school districts about their reopening plans for the coming school year. Local health departments have also been involved in helping districts figure out the best way to keep kids safe, healthy, and provide the best education possible this fall.

Shawnna Rhine with the Southern Seven Health Department says with groups congregating such as kids returning to school, there is an inherent risk of spreading COVID-19, but local health departments and schools are doing everything they can to protect students and staff.

Rhine encourages parents to find out your local district’s safety protocol and follow those guidelines for the safety of your child, other children, and faculty and staff at the school.
