MT. VERNON, IL — A tree fell into power lines near S. 11th Street and Newby Avenue around 6:15 a.m., Tuesday, July 7th knocking out power to approximately 1,000 customers.
Ameren Illinois crews arrived and began to make the area safe and secure for tree trimmers. Tree trimmers began work at 8:15 a.m. and had the tree limbs removed by 8:50 a.m.
Ameren Illinois crews began work immediately and had the lines safely repaired by 9:30 a.m. All 1,000 customers were restored by 9:45 a.m.
