CENTRALIA, IL — A Friday morning incident at Walmart in Centralia has landed a 31-year-old Centralia man in the Clinton County Jail on charges of armed robbery, retail theft, and aggravated assault.

Walmart employees called Centralia police Friday morning to report a man walking around the store swinging a bat and making threats as he attempted to leave the store without paying for a shopping cart full of items.

Cortis Foulks was eventually taken into custody after leading police on a foot pursuit from the Walmart parking lot to Fairview Park. He reportedly had made threats to harm police officers before they arrived.

Foulks reportedly dropped the bat during the pursuit and laid down on the ground as officers caught up with him in the park.
