MT. VERNON, IL — Mt. Vernon Township High School will conduct its 115th annual commencement exercises on Saturday, June 6th beginning at 6 p.m. Due to circumstances involving the Covid-19 pandemic, the ceremony will take place in a drive-through format.

Graduates should plan to arrive in a vehicle with family members they designate starting at 5:00p.m. Detailed instructions will be mailed to graduates. Also, a video outlining the graduation process can be found posted on the school’s website and Facebook page.

Spectators who wish to view the ceremony may park in the athletic complex north lot. Gates will open at 4:00p.m. and will close promptly at 6:00p.m.

After receiving their diploma, graduates and families may line up on

Ambassador Road for a parade or depart to their homes. Spectators parked in the athletic complex parking lot are expected to remain in their vehicles, parked, throughout the entire ceremony. No lawn chairs or exiting the vehicle will be permitted.

Please be aware that no one will be permitted to enter the school building and there are no restroom facilities available. After the last graduate crosses the stage, fireworks over the baseball field will signal the conclusion of the ceremony and beginning of the parade. The parade will start at R. P. Lumber, proceed on Broadway through town and conclude at the courthouse.
