JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL — There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Jefferson County as of Thursday morning. That’s the good news for residents, but two health department officials say the area isn’t totally out of the woods as more tests become available and the numbers continue to rise.

Jefferson County Health Department’s Director of Environmental Health Brian Wells says to continue supporting local businesses, but do so safely.

330 new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Tuesday into Wednesday by Illinois governor J.B. Pritzker at his daily press conference. In addition to the new cases, 3 more deaths were confirmed, bringing the states COVID-19 death total to 19.
