MT. VERNON, IL — The Mt. Vernon City Clerk’s office is reporting that residents are mailing in their confirmation page from completing the 2020 census online in compliance with the original July 31st deadline so they receive their $10 visa gift card. However, this is not the case and is unnecessary.

The US Census Bureau was already running the 2020 census through July 31st, but with the COVID-19 pandemic, the deadline has been extended to August 14th.

The City of Mt. Vernon asks residents responding to the census online to please hold their confirmation page, either printed or in a screenshot form, until City Hall reopens to the public. Do not mail or bring the confirmation page to the City Clerk’s office.  Those that have already mailed them in will need to come by City Hall when it reopens as they will not be mailing out the $10 gift cards.
