FRANKLIN COUNTY — The Franklin County Board Tuesday night tabled an ordinance that would prohibit operation of any cannabis related business established within the unincorporated area of Franklin County.

Board Chairman Randall Crocker believes he got a little bit in a hurry to deal with this issue since recreational cannabis becomes legal in Illinois Jan. 1. Crocker says he thought there was some sort of time constraint to make a decision whether or not to allow recreational cannabis to be sold in Franklin County.

Crocker says there will be other opportunities for other businesses to get into selling recreational cannabis and will be studying this. But in the meantime, Crocker says the County Board will continue to study this issue and decide what direction they want to go.
