MARION COUNTY — A 31-year-old Vernon man charged in December in Marion County court with two counts armed home invasion and for being a felon in possession of a firearm is now facing an additional felony charge for allegedly harassing a witness.

Dean Thompson remains in the Marion County Jail where he’s been held since December 2018 on $250,000 cash bond for allegedly forcing his way into his ex-wife’s home while he was armed with a gun.

The two home invasion charges against Thompson are Class X felonies, which are punishable by 6-30 years in prison each if convicted.

The weapons charge is a Class 3 felony, which is punishable by between 2 to 5 years in prison if convicted and the latest charge is a Class 2 felony punishable by between 3 and 7 years in prison.

Thompson is also facing a misdemeanor domestic battery charge for an alleged incident involving his ex-wife earlier in the week of the alleged home invasion.
