MT. VERNON — A 31-year-old Mt. Vernon man turned himself in Sunday afternoon to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office in connection with a shooting last week that sent one person to the hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

A Jefferson County warrant had been issued for Calvin Webster’s arrest, charging him with Aggravated Battery with a Firearm.

The warrant was issued in connection with a shooting which occurred in the 2300 block of Perkins on June 4th.

Bail for Webster has been set at $350,000.

Webster had previously turned himself in to Jefferson County authorities in connection with a 2014 shooting incident that sent one person to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Charges, in that case, were ultimately dismissed but not before Webster filed a federal lawsuit against the City of Mt. Vernon and the Mt. Vernon Police Department claiming his Fourteenth Amendment rights had been violated and seeking a $50,000 judgment.

A federal judge eventually dismissed his case with prejudice and ruled in favor of the City and the police department.
