WEST FRANKFORT — The West Frankfort City Council approved one of the two tax increment financing redevelopment agreements that were on the agenda for Tuesday’s meeting.

According to City Clerk Angie Baker Deaton, the TIF agreement for Mike Ivy and Angie Kelly doing business as Quest Fitness was approved at $121,000 – a portion of the property tax revenue – to be reimbursed over a 12-year period. Quest Fitness will build a new building on a vacant lot just north of the mall.

The TIF agreement for Hutton ST, LLC doing business as O’Reilly Auto Parts was tabled since the city’s economic developer did not hear back from the parties to accept the agreement. They are looking at a location in front of the former Tom’s Mad Pricer on Main Street.

In other business, the council tabled approved the annual audit for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 since it was not completed in time for the council meeting.

The city accepted the Main Street property donation from Banterra Bank. Baker says if Mayor Tom Jordan is re-elected in April, he has stated it is his intent to move City Hall to this location and make the present City Hall the police station. The mayor thanked Banterra Bank for the donation.

The council also approved the $3,500 estimate from Tri County Roofing regarding the roof repair at the fire department.
