NWS issues wind advisory for today

ILLINOIS (WITHERS RADIO NEWS) — The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for our listening area, which is in effect from 10 this morning to 7 tonight.

Winds are expected from the south at 15 to 20 mph and wind gusts up to 45 mph. Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees and power lines.

Scattered power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. These winds could also lift and move trash cans, lawn furniture and other loose outdoor objects. Winds of these magnitudes may cause minor property damage without extra precautions.

Due to the wind advisory, burn bans are in place in Hurst, West Frankfort, Royalton, the Village of Carrier Mills and Zeigler until further notice. Even if your city or village does not issue a burn ban, it is a good idea with the high wind advisory to save any burning for a calmer day.
