CENTRALIA — A 27-year-old Centralia man remains in the Marion County Jail awaiting the formal filing of charges in court following his arrest over the weekend on a string of charges for alleged violent offenses.

Lamar Bennett was arrested after police received a call Sunday morning from a female claiming Bennett had held her against her will at his home Saturday night. She said she called after Bennett had left the home.

She was taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment of injuries and reportedly received a threatening text from Bennett while there. When Bennett arrived at the hospital he was taken into custody.

He was arrested for alleged aggravated domestic battery, aggravated unlawful restraint, aggravated kidnapping and unlawful use of weapons in connection with the incident involving the woman.

He was additionally arrested for aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection with the alleged discharge of a firearm Saturday in which a vehicle was struck. There were no injuries reported in that incident.

Bennett is expected to be formally charged in Marion County Tuesday.
