Marcella G. Peacock, 100, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 7:30 P.M. March 3, 2019 at Crossroads Community Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was born July 30, 1918 in Belle Rive, Illinois to the late Ted Davenport and Alma (Burgin) Davenport. She married Francis Peacock in September of 1950. They were blessed with 35 years of marriage until he preceded her in death in February of 1986.

Marcella is survived by hertwo daughters, Jean Hill of Mount Vernon, Illinois and Cheryl Lankford and husband Gary of Walnut Hill, Illinois; son, Gerald Peacock and wife, Marla of Morgantown, West Virginia; four grandchildren, Teresa Bright and husband, Mike, Jason Hill, Alisha Mecker and husband, Brian, and Stuart Lankford and wife, Debra; six great grandchildren, Peyton Mecker, Alexis Mecker, Alyssa Mecker, Amy May and husband, Charles, Chris Hill and wife, Sis, and Chloe Lankford; and seven great-great grandchildren, including expecting twins.

Marcella was preceded in death by her parents,Ted Davenport and Alma (Burgin) Davenport, husband, Francis Peacock; son-in-law, Don Hill; grandson, Bruce Hill; four brothers; and two sisters.

Marcella was a member of Belle Rive Missionary Baptist Church. She worked at International Shoe Factory in Mount Vernon, Illinois for many years. Marcella was a member of the Mount Vernon VFW Post #141 and the American Legions Women’s Auxiliary.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The funeral service will begin at 12:00 P.M. Friday, March 8, 2019 at Hughey Funeral Home with Reverend Dale Davenport officiating.  Interment will follow at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens in Woodlawn, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children.
