MT. VERNON — The 19th Annual Southern Illinois Criminal Justice Summit was held in Effingham Wednesday and Thursday. About 400 police officials from federal, state, county, and local departments attended the two-day summit.

One of those in attendance was Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page. He says one of the biggest positives of the summit is the networking and the discussion on the issues his department is facing with leaders of other departments.

The theme of this year’s summit was the health and wellness of the law enforcement culture. The summit rotates between being held in Effingham and Mt. Vernon each year.
