METROPOLIS (RFD) — The Ohio River continues to flex its muscle, triggering flooding across the Midwest. The flooding situation in Metropolis, Illinois looks like a job for Superman but Mayor Billy McDaniel, known to locals as “Mayor Billy” says damage has been minimized thanks to state and local cooperation in taking properties out of harm’s way.

Governor J.B. Pritzker visited the swamped border town. He is saluting the town’s “Super” teamwork.

About 50 homes and a Harrah’s casino complex are surrounded by floodwaters.
