SALEM — A 25-year-old Kinmundy man was charged Monday morning in Marion County court with home invasion after allegedly forcing his way into a Salem home and assaulting the home owner.

Trenton Pearson was formally charged with Class X felony home invasion, and Class 4 felony criminal trespass.

Salem police arrested Pearson while walking in the 2100 block of Old Texas Lane early Sunday morning.

Reports say just before 5:30 Sunday morning, Pearson showed up at the home to look for his ex-girlfriend and kicked in the door.

He allegedly began pushing the home owner against the wall while searching the home for the woman. While the woman was reportedly in the home at the time, Pearson was never able to find her.

The homeowner reportedly suffered minor injuries in the incident but did not seek hospitalization. The ex-girlfriend reportedly had an active order of protection against Pearson at the time.
