EFFINGHAM — An Illinois State Trooper was injured early Saturday morning when his squad car was reportedly struck by an drunk driver in Effingham.

The trooper was stopped on Raney Street at the intersection of Fayette Street in Effingham when 45-year-old Tamra Wendt of Effingham struck the driver side door of the squad car when making a turn from Fayette Street.

The trooper was later transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The crash occurred at 2:02 on Saturday morning.
