ILLINOIS (WITHERS BROADCASTING) — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of our listening area from 5 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

Snow is expected to overspread the area during the late afternoon Tuesday and is expected to mix with and turn to light freezing rain during the late evening and overnight hours.

Temperatures will warm above freezing from east to west bringing the freezing rain to an end through 6 AM. Total snow accumulations of up to two inches and ice accumulations of up to one tenth of an inch expected.

Motorists should plan on slippery road conditions and hazardous travel that could impact the Tuesday evening commute.

A Winter Weather Advisory is issued for a variety of winter weather conditions, such as snow, blowing snow, sleet, or freezing drizzle and rain.

It only takes a small amount of wintry precipitation to make roads, bridges, sidewalks, and parking lots icy and dangerous. It’s often difficult to tell when ice begins to form, so do not be caught off guard.
