JEFFERSON COUNTY — Names of the suspects and a few more details have been released in an incident Sunday night in Opdyke that led to the arrests of two men.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, they responded early Sunday night to a report of a burglary in progress at a home on Illinois Highway 142 in the Opdyke area and a vehicle seen fleeing from the scene.

Deputies subsequently stopped a vehicle occupied by 68 year old Buddy Draper of Fairfield and 36 year old Jacob Roderick of Effingham.

The resulting investigation led to Sheriff’s Office detectives being called out to assist.

Draper and Roderick were both arrested as a result on the charges of attempted burglary.

The investigation continues and both men are being held in the Jefferson County Jail with bail remaining to be set.
