Centralia man arrested during weekend residential burglary

CENTRALIA — A 9-1-1 call over the weekend resulted in the arrest of a 51-year-old Centralia man by Centralia police after he was found inside a home following an apparent forced entry.

According to police, Michael Thompson was arrested for alleged residential burglary, criminal trespass to property and criminal damage to property.

Officers responding to a 9-1-1 call reportedly found the glass to a back door of a home in the 1200 block of Beach Street broken out and Thompson inside the home.

When police contacted the homeowner, they were informed that no one, including Thompson, had permission to be in the home.

Thompson was reportedly in possession of one of the homeowner’s phones when he was found inside the house.

He was taken to the Marion County Jail where he remains awaiting the formal filing of charges and the setting of bail.
