Phillip Edman Staley, 48, of Dix, was born October 7, 1970, in Evansville, Indiana, to Jerry and Mary Margaret Staley.  On the evening of February 6, 2019, he lost his battle here on Earth.

Phillip is survived by his Beloved, Linda Montgomery of Illinois; his children, Taylor Staley and wife Jolaine, and their children, and Peyton Staley, both serving in the U.S. Army, and Barrett Staley and Jade Staley of California;  his mother, Mary Margaret Staley of Dix; one sister, Khalia Staley-Crandell, and her children, of Missouri;  one brother, Daniel Staley and wife Nanci Bezeck-Staley, and their children, of Oregon;  and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Phillip served in the United States Air Force as an F-16 Journeyman, at McDill Air Force Base.  He spent most of his career in maintenance.  His love of the outdoors and compassion for animals brought him great joy.  His compassion for others prompted him to be an organ donor.  Phillip was blessed with a forever friend and neighbor, Bobby Turner, to whom we are forever grateful, and who will never be forgotten.  God Bless You, Bobby.

Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Staley; grandparents, Elmer and Evelyn Staley and Ralph and Phyllis Karch; and one brother-in-law, Robert Crandell.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded, and no public services will be held.  A gathering of family and friends will be held for him and his father, at a later date, on the family farm.  Memorial gifts may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, or the Gary Sinise Foundation, which were both very special to him, and will be accepted by mail to the Osborn Funeral Home, P.O. Box 130, Dix, Illinois 62830.  Online condolences may be made at www.osbornfuneral.com, or on the funeral home’s Facebook page.
