ILLINOIS (RFD) — A bill being discussed inside the Illinois House would take a step towards universal college admission. The proposal is for students in the top 10 percent of their class and those who meet test score requirements to be admitted to any state university. Kevin Pitts with the University of Illinois worries that some of those students won’t be prepared.
The students will still have to qualify according to individual university requirements. Supporters think it should help boost minority enrollment and keep more instate kids at local universities.
