FAYETTE COUNTY — A 35-year-old Vandalia woman has been arrested on a Fayette County warrant charging her with unlawful financial exploitation of an elderly person.

Heather M. Swain is charged with two Class 1 felony counts of Unlawful Financial Exploitation of an Elderly Person.

Prosecutors say Swain “knowingly, and by deception, obtained control over bank accounts” having a “value of more than $50,000.”

The counts are Class 1 felonies punishable by four to 15 years in prison. Swain is currently free on $7,500 bond. She’s next scheduled to appear in court March 5.
