ILLINOIS (NWS) — The National Weather Service in Paducah has issued a Flash Flood Warning until 1:15pm today for;

Perry County, White County, Wayne County, Wabash County, Jefferson County, Edwards County, Jackson County, Franklin County, and Hamilton County.

Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Some locations that will experience flooding include; Carbondale, West Frankfort, Murphysboro, Mount Carmel, Benton, Du Quoin, Pinckneyville, Carmi, Fairfield, Mcleansboro, Christopher, Albion, Mount Vernon, Rend Lake Area, Sesser, Zeigler, Grayville, De Soto, Lancaster and Norris City.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches are possible in the warned area during the morning hours.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS; Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
