MT. VERNON — The spring storm season is just around the corner, and the National Weather Service is preparing to hold their Skywarn Spotter classes later this month. The Jefferson County EMA is sponsoring a class that will be held at the Mt. Vernon Outland Airport on February 19th at 6:30 p.m.

Keith Hertenstein is the Assistant Coordinator for the Jefferson County EMA. He says storm spotters are especially important in our area for the National Weather Service.

The class is free for those who want to participate. For more information or to register, visit www.weather.gov/pah/spottertraining or you can call Hertenstein at 244-8000, ext. 0. Hertenstein says if there’s no answer, leave a message and he will call you back to confirm your registration.
