Autopsy results released on Herrin man’s death

HERRIN — Herrin Police says autopsy results have been released in connection with a Herrin man’s death early Sunday morning.

Police Chief Quinn Laird says the death of 50-year-old Jeffery D. Ennis has been ruled a homicide.

Ennis was found dead at his home in the 700 block of North 17th Street around 5:20Sunday morning.

The investigation is being conducted by The Herrin Police Department, The Williamson County Major Case Squad, The Williamson County Coroner’s Office, The Williamson County State’s Attorney’s Office and Illinois State Police Zone 7 Investigations.

Quinn says this is an active and ongoing investigation. No additional information will be released at this time.
