Central IL Congressman introduces Social Security Fairness Act

ILLINOIS (RFD) — A central Illinois congressman hopes to help millions of Americans receive the money they have paid into the government that is being taken away through two programs that he says are unfair. U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis of Taylorville earlier this month introduced the bipartisan Social Security Fairness Act, which eliminates the Windfall Elimination Provision and the Government Pension Offset. Those two aspects of the Social Security Act reduce or eliminate Social Security benefits for millions of Americans who have devoted much of their careers to public service. Davis says the bill is supported by the IEA, NEA, and several law enforcement agencies.

Davis likes its chances, as he says there are as many Democrats as there are Republicans on the bill as co-sponsors. This, like all bills, are on hold until congress is called back to work.
