MARION COUNTY — Kinmundy-Alma firefighters responded Sunday morning to a report of a fire in the tractor portion of a semi that was traveling southbound on Interstate just south of the Kinmundy exit.

Reports indicate the problem was a fire that firefighters were able to keep confined to one set of tires and wheels.

The driver of the semi reportedly was able to pull the truck off the side of the road and escape injury.

The incident caused traffic on the Interstate to back up, which resulted in a different semi running into the median to avoid a crash when the driver reportedly failed to notice the stopped traffic from the first incident.

No injuries were reported in either incident.
