CENTRALIA — If you’ve driven by the offices of our sister station in Centralia, WILY/WRXX, you’re aware the building had an encounter Sunday morning with a vehicle.

According to Centralia police, around 5 a.m. Sunday, 41-year-old Cortney Smith, of Centralia, said she was traveling 90 miles per hour and fleeing a gunman who was pursuing her in another vehicle when she ran off South Poplar Street and sheared one of the columns outside our building.

Her vehicle ultimately came to a stop just outside the front doors and was wedged between the east side of the building and the remaining columns under the balcony.

Police do not believe there was any car with a gunman and no indicators to know for sure how fast the vehicle was actually traveling.
