CENTRALIA — Bail has been set at $500,000 for a 28-year-old Ashley man who was reportedly found with 100 to 400 grams of methamphetamine in his vehicle following a high-speed chase with Centralia police.

Winston Bailey was arrested last week after allegedly fleeing Centralia police at speeds reaching 75 miles per hour in downtown Centralia before ultimately crashing his vehicle at Kell and Franklin and then attempting to flee on foot.

Bailey has been formally charged in Marion County court with Class X felony possession of 100 to 400 grams of meth.

After apprehending Bailey, police searched his vehicle and allegedly found $5,480 in cash, two baggies of a white substance that tested positive for meth that weighed a combined 162 grams.

A further search of the vehicle reportedly revealed another $18,200 in cash in the trunk along with $4,000 in money orders.

At the time of his arrest, Bailey was on parole for convictions of residential arson and aggravated domestic battery.
