SPRINGFIELD — Illinois lawmakers are heading back to the Illinois Capitol this week. Lawmakers are due back in session tomorrow, and it’ll be the last day for the 100th General Assembly.
Democratic Gov.-elect J.B. Pritzker takes over from one-term Republican incumbent Bruce Rauner after four years of ideological stalemate that prevented a state spending plan for two straight years. He has plenty of backup.
On Wednesday, new Governor J.B. Pritzker will take his oath of office and a new General Assembly will begin its work.
Meanwhile, two new legislators for our area will be sworn in, as well, Wednesday. Jason Plummer will be sworn in as the new State Senator for the 54th district, taking over for Kyle McCarter; and, Blaine Wilhour will be sworn in as the 107th district State Representative, taking over for John Cavaletto.
