CENTRALIA — Centralia police have released of the name of the 28-year-old St. Louis man who was shot in the shoulder and chest with a shotgun Tuesday night.

Justin McMath reportedly lives in the Centralia area. He called 9-1-1 just before 6 p.m. Tuesday to report he had been shot and was in the 700 block of Rasback Street in Centralia.

McMath was initially transported to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia before being transferred to a St. Louis area hospital.

Centralia police continue to investigate the incident but 32-year-old Bart Brown of Rasback Street in Centralia is being held in the Marion County Jail on charges of aggravated battery with a weapon, aggravated discharge of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon in connection with the shooting. The shooting reportedly occurred in Brown’s backyard.

Brown, who police had called armed and dangerous Wednesday and a person of interest in the case turned himself in to the Marion County Jail Wednesday night.

Brown is expected to be formally charged Friday in Marion County court.
