JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 40-year-old Christopher woman is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday morning in Jefferson County court for setting a fire in 2015 at a Mt. Vernon hotel.

A Jefferson County jury found Adriane Parke guilty in October of Class X felony aggravated arson.

Two other related charges against Parke were dismissed prior to the trial. A Class X felony is punishable by between 6 and 30 years in prison.

According to court records show Parke worked as a housekeeper at the Drury Inn during the time of the fire.

Close to 60 guests and employees had to evacuate during the fire, but Parke was the only injury reported as she apparently suffered from smoke inhalation.

She was ultimately arrested on the charges in Franklin County before being transported to Jefferson County, where a few weeks later she posted $5,000 cash bond and was released.

Parke was returned to the Jefferson County Jail following the jury’s verdict in October.
