Illinois Sees Average Number of Tornadoes

ILLINOIS (RFD) — December started with a tornado outbreak but it didn’t add to an already large number of tornadoes this year. The state is on pace for an average number of twisters. Normally the state sees 54 a year this year’s total is 58. Climatologist Jim Angel says that one year stands out among all others when focusing on the number of tornadoes.

Angel says you don’t always think about tornadoes in December but you should be reminded that they can and do occur in any month in Illinois.
