Eight People Arrested on Drug Charges in Warrant Sweep Wednesday in Mt. Vernon

MT. VERNON — The Mt. Vernon Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High Risk Team conducted a warrant sweep Wednesday afternoon, which led to the arrests of eight Mt. Vernon residents.

30-year-old Tashia McClain, 52-year-old Thomas Mauer, 52-year-old Howard Rudd, 28-year-old Jocelyn Roberts, 51-year-old Nicola Jenkins, 63-year-old Luan Crable, 34-year-old Joshua Simms and 30-year-old Candice Beard were all arrested on various drug charges Wednesday during the sweep.

Mt. Vernon Police Detective Captain Vic Koontz says the arrests come after months of investigation by the Mt. Vernon Police Department Narcotics Division, including undercover drug buys.

In a Facebook post, the department says seven additional suspects are being sought.
