EFFINGHAM — Police in Effingham have arrested a 17-year-old juvenile in connection with a reported threat made toward Effingham High School.

The school administration was made aware Thursday morning of a reported threat made to the high school and immediately contacted the SRO officer and Effingham City Police.

Police and school officials investigated and the 17-year-old juvenile was interviewed and taken into custody around noon Thursday by Effingham police.

The Police Department was in direct communication with Effingham County State’s Attorney Bryan Kibler, who was attending a conference in Chicago. Authorities said the juvenile will be charged with Making a Terroristic Threat, a Class X Felony.
