FRANKLIN COUNTY — Three people were arrested on several charges after Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies received a call about a stolen cell phone from a business in Akin Monday.

Sheriff David Bartoni says deputies reviewed surveillance footage and saw 25-year-old Seth W. Murphy of Thompsonville take the phone. He arrived at the business to return the phone. The vehicle he was in was driven by 25-year-old Samuel L. Sweet of Thompsonville. Twenty-three-year-old Darrian N. Willis of West Frankfort was also in the vehicle.

The sheriff says an investigation was conducted which led to charges against the three men.

Murphy was charged on a failure to appear warrant for controlled substance, possession of a stolen vehicle, theft, possession of meth and possession of a stolen firearm.

Sweet was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, theft and driving on a suspended driver’s license.

Willis was charged with identity theft.

All three are being held in the Franklin County Jail pending review from the State’s Attorney’s office and filing of formal charges.
