WILLIAMSON COUNTY (RFD) — The 2018 firearm deer hunting season is over in Illinois and it includes quite the tale in the southern part of the state. Keith Szablewski of Johnston City is no trophy hunter though. He’s had some very humble success in the fields and woods, until this year anyway. He landed what appears to be a 51-point buck on private property in Williamson County during the first firearm weekend Nov. 16-to-18.

The points will officially be scored by a panel of judges in July at the Deer and Turkey Classic trade show in Peoria. The current record, according to published reports, is held by a Tennessee hunter in 2016 scoring 47-points.
