GALLATIN COUNTY — No one was injured following a Monday afternoon accident involving a school bus and a pickup truck in Gallatin County.

According to Illinois State Police, 52-year-old Sheila M. Jenkins of Equality was driving the school bus and was stopped at the westbound yield sign on McClernand Avenue at the intersection with North Lincoln Boulevard in Shawneetown.

When Jenkins proceeded to cross North Lincoln Boulevard, she struck the passenger side of the pickup truck driven by 91-year-old Robert P. Downen of Shawneetown.

Neither Jenkins nor Downen were injured. In addition, none of the 20 juveniles being transported on the school bus reported any injuries. Both vehicles were driven from the crash scene.

Jenkins received a citation for failure to yield at a yield intersection.

The Shawneetown Police Department assisted ISP District 19 at the crash scene.
