MCLEANSBORO — The Elves on the Run 5K Run/Walk is set for Saturday, Dec. 15 in McLeansboro.

The race will start at 9 a.m. behind East Side Grade School on Hull Street and finish in the same general area.

Spokesperson Amanda Gunther says this is the first year for the run benefiting kids in Hamilton County. The registration fee is $15 through today and goes to $20 tomorrow.

Over 40 runners have signed up so far for the run which Gunther says also includes silent runners who pay the registration fee but are not running in the event.

Besides the 5K Run/Walk, there will be a Kids Fun Run too. The registration fee is $10. Each finisher in the fun run will receive a finishers award.

Gunther says the event’s goal is to help 50 to 100 kids have a good Christmas. Right now, the number stands at 50.
