JACKSON COUNTY — A Murphysboro man has been sentenced in Jackson County to 18 months in prison for domestic battery.

Jackson County State’s Attorney Michael Carr announced Tuesday that on Oct. 11 of last year, eyewitnesses reported to police that they saw 21-year-old Logan R. Huppert strike his girlfriend in the face multiple times. Carbondale Police officers located Huppert and the victim shortly thereafter.

Huppert pled guilty to the charge of domestic battery – a Class 4 felony – due to a prior domestic battery conviction on Sept. 24 of this year. Upon his release from prison, Huppert will serve a four-year period of mandatory supervised release.

This case was investigated by the Carbondale Police Department. Assistant State’s Attorney Penny J. Pierson was responsible for the prosecution of the case.
