MT. VERNON — Union Pacific Railroad will be making improvements to crossings across the city of Mt. Vernon throughout the month of December.
The railroad company has told city of Mt. Vernon officials that they will be working on both crossings on Shawnee St. and Liberty Road, along with the crossings at Rackaway St., Castleton Ave., Casey Ave., Broadway, and Main St.
Work will start December 1st and last through the 22nd. Union Pacific will post signage for the closures and detours two days before the work is set to begin. Each crossing will be closed for about six hours depending on the amount of work that needs to be done.
