MT. VERNON — Eight Jefferson County non-profits are teaming up to spread the word to “Give Local” on Giving Tuesday on November 27th. Cedarhurst Center for the Arts, Spero Family Services, Court Appointed Special Advocates, Lifeboat Alliance, the Jefferson County YMCA, Jefferson County Toys for Kids, One Hope United, and the United Way of South Central Illinois are working together to let the community know to donate to local charities to help those in their community.

Hillary Esser is the Director of Development with Cedarhurst. She says this year they wanted to partner with other local not-for-profits to better get the word out about Giving Tuesday.

Ranee Kujawa is the Interim Development Director with Spero. She says Giving Tuesday actually starts with the beginning of holiday shopping this weekend.

Those interested in joining the local #GivingTuesday movement can stop by Mt. Vernon Kroger between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on November 27th, or visit any of the eight collaborating non-profit’s Facebook pages.
