FRANKLIN COUNTY — A Texico man was recently arrested by Franklin County Sheriff’s deputies after they responded to a reported incident in which an employee of the Thompsonville Service Center had confronted a male subject attempting to burglarize a car.

Sheriff Don Jones says the employee had been threatened by the subject who was armed with a knife.

The suspect, 40-year-old James D. Barrett, was located, disarmed of the knife and taken into custody.

The sheriff says the investigation resulted in charges of two counts of burglary, theft, retail theft from the Thompsonville Dollar General Store and aggravated assault with a knife. Barrett remains in the Franklin County Jail.
