WEST FRANKFORT — The West Frankfort City Council approved all items regarding the Enterprise Zone at Tuesday night’s meeting.

An enterprise zone will be established in the city that will be included in the Franklin County Enterprise Zone that will also include portions of the city of Benton and the village of West City.

The council also approved a resolution abating property tax in the Franklin County I-57 Enterprise Zone.

In other business, the council approved bids for demolition of abandoned properties. There were three properties and two companies provided sealed bids. Properties that will be torn down are located at 905 S. Monroe, 308 N. Taft and 201 E. St. Louis.

The proposed four-way stop at the corner of North Douglas and West St. Louis streets was approved.

The council also approved a resolution for the C.A.R.E. Association to sponsor the Fantasy of Lights Parade on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. and approved blocking off traffic on Short Street between Main and Oak streets on Tuesday, Nov. 20 from 3 to 10 p.m. to prepare for the parade.
